Dugahun
About This Spot
Stepping into Dugahun feels like entering a quietly enchanting junction where Seoul’s rich tradition meets the delicate craft of Italian cuisine. Nestled in the heart of Jongno District, this restaurant unfolds within a beautifully preserved hanok, its wooden beams and tiled roof sheltering an experience that is both intimate and gently sophisticated. The soft hum of conversation drifts around the warm glow of subdued lighting, while glimpses of the peaceful courtyard bring a breath of calm to the contemporary interiors.
The pace here invites you to slow down—each moment savored as much as the meal itself. Whether you’re seated near a window framing the serene garden or at a cozy corner that lets you soak in the layered textures of old and new Korea, there’s an effortless balance between tradition and quiet modernity in the air.
The food reflects this harmony, too. It’s Italian cuisine woven thoughtfully with fresh local ingredients, expressing familiar flavors with subtle nods to the seasonal landscape beyond the city streets. Expect textures that surprise—tender abalone beside crisp asparagus bathed in garlicky butter, or a panna cotta that feels like a gentle whisper of sweetness ending the meal on a softly elegant note. Even the breads and soups hint at care and craftsmanship, not just sustenance.
Service here moves with a kind attentiveness that leaves space for connection without intrusion. Staff members seem to understand the rhythm of the place, allowing each table to find its own quiet rhythm while ensuring nothing is missing. It’s the kind of attentiveness you notice in the way a sommelier suggests the perfect wine or when a server explains the story behind a dish, weaving a little more meaning into your evening.
Dugahun is more than a restaurant—it’s a subtle invitation to experience how cultural layers can coexist and inspire. It holds a quiet confidence that the best moments are those shared in a space where the past and the present meet, nourishing both body and memory.

My nephew's wedding at this venue was an absolute success. The continental cuisine was outstanding, the service impeccable, and the facilities truly unique – a beautiful blend of traditional Korean Hanok architecture and modern design, with a charming courtyard that perfectly complemented the contemporary interiors. My only complain was the rain!

Great Italian food in a traditional Korean setting. Not cheap and can be difficult to get reservations. Service and food quality is good.

Very good - and expensive. I was recommended this restaurant by a local Korean friend as "traditional" but I found it quite international in it's cousins using high quality local ingredients. We chose the set menu (2 options) which were plentiful + a bottle of wine and enjoyed all dishes. The atmosphere was relaxed but sophisticated (it was not very busy). Staff was very cordial ... just remember to "call" on them vs expecting people to come by your table regularly :). Would highly recommend this restaurant to enjoy for a date night.

The Dugahun offers a unique location and a fantastic combination of traditional ambience and modern cuisine. I decided for the „Chef‘s Special Dinner Menue“ and loved it! The dinner experience was rounded off by a great selection of wines and excellent service. An absolute recommendation that should not be missing on any bucket list...

I was the photographer for a wedding here in Spring 2023. The service and food was absolutely amazing and the staff was super kind and helpful throughout the wedding. Definately one of my favorite wedding venues!
